Trind Moist & Shiny Nail Kit

My nails aren’t in the best of condition these days. They actually haven’t been a top priority in a while. Several years ago I used to get manicures quite often or at the very least I would do them myself. To be honest I hadn’t even buffed, filed or polished my nails in a while, until recently, when I received this Trind Nail kit and had an excuse to.

Trind Nails

The Trind Moist & Shiny nail kit includes:

>>Acetone Free Extra Mild Nail Polish Remover
>>Nail Repair
>>Nail Balsam

>>Magic Nails (nail buffer)

Trind Most Shiny nail kit

I love this nail polish remover, it is mild and extra gentle on the skin surrounding my nails but it does get the nail polish off my nails. The Magic Nails nail buffer not only smooth’s nails, using it stimulates the production of natural nail moisture for healthier nails.

nail repairnail balsam

The nail repair is a nail strengthener that works by encouraging the protein molecules in the nail to firmly link together. This product also helps maintain the natural nail moisture. The nail balsam is meant to be applied to the nails with the brush and given 1-2 minutes to soak in before massaging excess into the nails and the cuticles for added moisture and shine.

As I stated above my nails were in bad shape. This kit from Trind has helped put some moisture and shine back into them for a healthier look. For this kit and other items you can visit Trind.com

The Beauty Of Elure

As we age it’s normal to develop brown spots, called age spots, and to see the tone of our skin become uneven and hyper-pigmented. This darkening and unevenness tends to make you look older, because we associate clear looking skin with youth and vitality.  Trying to achieve an even looking complexion is why, according to the New York Times, 64% of women wear foundation!  Of course any make up artist will tell you that wearing too much foundation actually makes you look older. Great. When you need it the most, you are  supposed to wear less. Cindy Crawford recently said that she wears less makeup as she ages, to look younger and fresh. Of course if you look at Cindy’s incredibly beautiful face- her skin is even and clear and it doesn’t look as if she needs to wear anything anyway.

So what do you do? Just because it can be a normal part of aging, you don’t have to be stuck with spots and hyper-pigmentation  Even if you have sensitive skin, there is a way to even things out, fade those spots, and reclaim a glowing complexion. A product that delivers real results, and has been winner of Allure’s Best of Beauty Award for two consecutive years, Elure is an excellent choice as a solution to lighten and brighten your skin. The extra beauty benefit of Elure Advanced Skin Brightening  Technology is that it’s  all-natural and vegan, ideal for people with sensitive skin.  Elure does not contain hydroquinone, so you can feel good about applying it to your skin. Best of all, Elure does not make the skin more prone to sun damage like alternative products. In several clinical studies, Elure produced results for most subjects in just 28 days.

The Elure ADVANCED SKIN LIGHTENING LOTION is safe to use twice a day, and this would be my pick for the easiest, fastest results.

Elure also makes an ADVANCED SKIN LIGHTENING NIGHT CREAM, that you can use in conjunction with the lotion.

Both products are available at iDerma.com and can be found  here.

By fading sun damage spots, dark  areas and evening out the overall look and tone of your skin, you can skip the heavy make up and just let your natural beauty shine through.

Just Good Stuff 4 You And Your Family

I introduced you to JustGoodStuff in my mini- review of their Pet Shampoo bar, but now I want to go more in-depth and let you get to know Joy and Ginny, the creators, as well as tell you about the incredible products they shared with me.

In the fall of 2010 Joy and Ginny were inspired to create non-toxic and nourishing skin care items, because they just didn’t want to keep adding toxins to their bodies. There are a lot of products out there that feature really good ingredients, but then a few “bad” ones are mixed in, defeating the idea. Wanting something with “just good stuff” led them to spending untold hours researching ingredients and trying out their “recipes,” and after sharing their creations with friends and family, the response was overwhelming! They are now sharing the results of their journey with you! Joy and Ginny typically make their products 3 or 4 times a month on weekends, even some weeknights, to keep up with the demand as their products are discovered. Originally, they worked from Ginny’s home as they built their confidence and learned the best techniques, but now they each also mix and prepare their creations independently.  I have met both women in person and they are incredibly nice. Smiling, fun and knowledgeable about their business. Their love and passion for what they are building is evident and really moving to witness. I found myself grinning a lot when I was around them because their upbeat personalities just rub off on you. I left with an awesome goodie bag of products to try out, and I am sooo glad.

Not me- just a random happy lady.

As those of you who regularly read my reviews know, I often tell you about a new find that becomes a personal favorite, and I have switched to a reviewed brand several times because it impressed me so much. Well, after spending about two-plus weeks using a bunch of their products, I have 7 (!!) new products that I will be buying and using, either completely replacing my prior brand or product, or incorporating into my life.  Yeah, I am THAT blown away!

Read on, and I’ll describe each item I used and I’ll also let you know which ones are now MUST-HAVES! Just because of space, if you want to see a full ingredient list for an item, head over to their storefront  or their ingredients list and you can view it there.

Herbal Deodorant Stick:

MUST-HAVE!  This is actually kind of ironic, because when I was chatting with Ginny and Joy I told them I’d have hub or my son try this, since I like a beachy, cool or fresh type of scent for my deodorant. After I had used the lotion bar on my way home, tried the basic soap when washing up to start dinner, used the Mango/Avocado soap as a body wash in my shower that night and followed up with the Mango Body Butter, I stood in the bathroom and thought, “Okay, I GOTTA try this, too.” I used it, and then kept on using it – I can tell you that I am converted! I adore this deodorant stick. While not my normal scent like I said, I love how it barely leaves any scent at all- completely different from my old normal preference. It does have Essential Oils of Clary Sage, Lime and Lavender, and it does smell fresh and pretty, just very, very subtle. It works wonderfully. I tried it when stacking wood, and I always work up a sweat doing that, half from exertion and half ’cause it hurts my shoulder. I’ve worn it when on my treadmill, and during workout DVDs. Amazing protection! It feels wonderful, it’s clear, and best of all, every single thing in it is good stuff! No aluminum!  I seriously could never go back to any of my previous brands.  I just think it’s funny that the one thing I basically said I wouldn’t try turned out to be practically my favorite!

Soaps:

Shea/Hemp-

Secret use! This soap is like the others in that it leaves your skin feeling soft, but for makeup mavens, here’s a tip: having used a different makeup-brush cleaner with hemp and almond oil, I decided to give this a try as a brush cleaner. Whoa Nelly! It does work, and I love how soft and clean my brushes are! I just wet the bar and my brush(es), swipe them back and forth across the bar a few times to get the soap evenly on the brush, then proceed as normal. Awesome!

Basic Soap-

MUST-HAVE! This is the first thing I tried after the lotion bar. I knew right away it was special. With only 4 ingredients, yes, it’s basic, but it lathers so beautifully (a feature each of the soaps I/we tried all share) and leaves your skin soft, but clean. It smells pure and clean, too. And get this- my son actually asked if he could take the bar to the kids’ bathroom to use as their soap! When have you ever heard of a teenage boy, who spends his days in the woods getting dirtier than dirt, request to use a certain kind of soap? He said it really felt good on his dry, cracked skin and I said, “Take it!”

The Basic Soap.

Mango/Avocado-

MUST-HAVE! I tried this first as a body wash and I will also continue to buy this soap. As a body wash it’s amazing. I’ve griped to you before about how picky I am about body wash – I want to feel clean, but not dried out, and yet I don’t want to feel greasy either. This bar lathers like a dream, and leaves your skin so soft, you don’t actually need lotion- I use lotion anyway and always will, but the point is, the two times I tried going without after-shower lotion when using this bar, it was okay! My skin didn’t feel like it would crack, and it wasn’t tight; I just felt soft and, yes, supple! Kudos to Joy and Ginny on this recipe! Winner, winner! When I buy more this will also be my kitchen sink hand soap. I just totally love it.

Shea/Almond- This soap is also ultra-moisturizing. If I wasn’t so gaga over the Mango/Avocado, this would be my favorite. This is the one hub says he likes most.

Shaving Soap-

MUST-HAVE! I hardly have to shave at all, since using my *Remington iLight, but on the very few occasions I do – WOW! I couldn’t go back to a gel or shave cream after using this. It leaves your skin mega soft, and I felt like my razor was just gliding over my skin. Hub says it’s worth the extra second or two to lather up with this instead of cream from a can because he thinks the same as me- his shave just felt closer and smoother, and his razor seemed to glide. Total winner!

Facial Products:

Rhassoul Facial Bar-

MUST-HAVE!  A FANTASTIC detox facial bar! I have a daily glycolic cleanser I’m hard-core hooked on right now, but I like this so much I’m alternating with it. Deep, deep clean feeling, plus really clear-looking skin when you are done cleansing. Not just for your face, but I’m putting it here since that is how I’m using it. Tops!

I love the Rhassoul Facial Bar- I like to use it with my Pretika Facial Brush.

Detoxifying/Calming Facial Mask-

I really liked the mask. With Rhassoul, other clays, and chamomile tea, it really does do a great job of pulling impurities from your skin. You steep the tea bag in about a tablespoon or so of boiling water for 5 minutes. Squeeze excess liquid from the tea bag, then take the liquid and mix it with the powdered clay. Apply to your face and neck, and relax until completely dried. Rinse. Ahh. Feels lovely, and is a  wonderful treat once a week.

Fabulous  Facial Moisturizer-

I’ve been using a few drops of this oil with my night cream and really like the moisturizing boost it gives. A combination of only two oils, it  won’t clog pores, but it really amps up the moisture on your face. I like to massage any excess into my hands each evening, too.

The Facial Moisturizer and the Night Time Eye Balm.

Night Time Eye Balm-

It says night time, but I have this sitting out on the kitchen counter in easy reach, next to lip balm #7, and I dab a little under my eyes throughout the day. It’s a handy little stick for quick and easy application and I really like how moisturizing it is and how good it feels.

Lip Balms by formula #

#3-

A nice all-around lip balm- not too shiny, not too matte.

#5-

If  #7  wasn’t available this would be my next choice. Very similar to 7, but just a little less gloss. Very nice.

#7 –

MUST-HAVE!! I love this! Super luxe feeling, glossy, and shiny, and my lips are so soft and pretty! Love this balm!!

#9 –

This is the only thing I tried that I didn’t fall for- I like my lip balms slick, and I like them to leave a gloss or shine on my lips. This is a drier feel. While it’s not for me, my hub really, really likes it- he called it a “man-balm,” lol. Since it is drier with no real sheen, it is nice for a guy who’s dealing with chapped lips but who doesn’t like the typical balms that feel filmy and leave shine.

Lotion

Coconut Milk Shea Body Butter and Mango Body Butter

The Mango Butter and The Coconut Milk Shea  Butter are rich, whipped butters that leave your skin soft and subtly fragrant  in an earthy, fresh way. I have been using both of these after bathing. The only reason I’m not adding these as must-haves is because I have a different butter and daily lotion set that I adore and love, and that I was using before I started using these… and I have a back up set for when the first ones are gone ;-p  So I know I won’t re-purchase the mango or coconut butters for a while, but I might down the road.

Luxurious Lotion Bar- MUST-HAVE!

This is the first product I tried. While waiting at a red light in the car, I pulled this out and began rubbing it between my hands to help it liquefy from the warmth of my skin. I knew I loved it from the get go. Super silky feeling, and it really leaves your skin soft and conditioned- I took a tip from the creators and I always rub a bit into my cuticles. I will keep buying this to keep in my purse. I’m hooked on this little flower-shaped gem!

The Lotion Bar- I used their pic because not a single one of mine turned out. Aren’t the bars cute?!

Whew! I really got going, huh? All in all, I am loving the products- I’m going to buy quite a few of them myself to keep using, and I hope you will try them, too! Visit them on  FacebookTwitter and Pinterest to stay up to date on specials and new products!

Coupster.co – Bling Your iPhone For Less

For me, half the fun of getting a new tech gadget is personalizing it and making it my own. Usually something pink and girly.

For iPhone users, though, there’s Coupster.co, a great site that sells discounted iPhone cases, bumpers, and batteries. Many of their products sell for at least half off the original price. They have a nice selection, including waterproof iPhone cases, NFL cases, and custom cases.

Most low price phone cases are often flimsy plastic, or cheap rubber that doesn’t offer a secure fit for the phone. My sister has ranted about that, at length!  On Coupster.co, you can find cases for comparable prices but  superior materials and quality. Even the cuter more “girly” cases offer the same protection without the loss of a fun accessory! The options and the prices make the cases an easy gift idea. Always fun!

Browsing through Coupster.co looking through their iPhone cases  featured collection, I liked the Pink Lifeproof iPhone 4 and 4S Case, which sells on the site for $45.99. Super cute. I like that it’s waterproof, too.

They have a great selection even including wooden iPhone cases- for less than fifteen dollars!

I’ve scouted around on other sites, and that’s a pretty good price.

I also like the Pink iPhone Bumper, which is a good option for those who want their iPhones to be protected, but are looking for a low-price item.

Coupster.co is currently offering the following discount codes:

Coupon code: 5off55

$5.00 off orders equal or above $55.00

Coupon code: 10off100

$10.00 off orders equal or above $100.00

Also, you can sign up to be an affiliate for Coupster.Co! They are offering 15% commission off any sale that comes through your link. Just Good Stuff 4 You And Your Pets!

Some of you may know that one of our little dogs, Mr. Baby, has epilepsy. His seizures are usually triggered by reactions to chemicals, which means we have to be really careful about what kinds of cleaning products we use for our house, like floor cleaners and laundry soap,  as well as what shampoo we use to bathe him. He could react to anything. And we’ve tried numerous “natural” pet shampoo and soap products, but over and over again we haven’t really been happy with any of them; they tend to leave a sort of oily/greasy residue behind that dulls his fur and makes it limp and scraggly. Greasy fur kind of defeats the purpose of a bath, doesn’t it? I am thanking my lucky stars I came across a line of hand-made soaps, balms, lotions and other pure and nourishing products called Just Good Stuff. I’ll be telling you all about their non-toxic people products in the coming days, but I wanted to start by sharing how much I love their Pet Shampoo Bar. The ingredient list for the Pet Shampoo Bar is wonderful: Coconut Oil, Palm Oil, Rice Bran Oil, Avocado Oil, Jojoba Oil, Cocoa Butter, Mango Butter along with essential oils of Rosemary and Lavender.

There isn’t anything in it to cause a reaction with Mr. Baby, and the combination of  good stuff creates a  beautiful lather and rinses so clean! We didn’t need to use any type of rinse or conditioner for his coat to shine afterwards. Mr. Baby was left smelling so nice, with fluffy clean fur. After a long search for the perfect pet soap, we’ve found it. Whether you are looking for a chemical-free solution for your pets due to health issues, or just because you like the natural alternatives to mass market synthetic soaps and shampoos, you will love this amazing bar.

I’ll tell you a lot more about the women who hand craft Just Good Stuff, their inspiration and their incredible products in a separate post very soon. I just wanted  to share my total delight with the Pet Shampoo Bar because our pets deserve good stuff, too!!

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 – A Review

When I was growing up, if you were getting a tablet, you were getting paper. Computers weren’t in practically every household, and phones had cords.  There were only VHS videos, and if you missed a TV show, tough. The difference between then and now is mind-boggling. We just got our new Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 from Staples.com. You can do more with this sleek little tablet than you could with my first computer – actually, my first two or three computers, lol. Commodore 64 ring a bell?

These days, more people than not are tech-savvy, so some of the things I’ll address here might be pretty basic to you. But let’s assume that we have some novice gadget-users reading this (um, kinda like me) and take it from there. Powered by Android™ 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich, this tablet has a seven-inch display, making it plenty big enough for reading, viewing, or whatever else you might want to do on it—and with a flick of your fingers, you can zoom in or out if you want to adjust the size of what you’re displaying. The images and media are bright and sharp. Ours is the 8 GB model, but it also comes in 4 GB and 16 GB, with additional memory available through the microSD card slot.  Its picture-taking capabilities are better than my old camera. Not brilliant, but very adequate. It has a front-facing camera for video chat and a rear-facing camera for taking regular pictures and video.

Here is a picture of a picture of Lucy taken with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2.

The back of the tablet. Rear Facing camera is on upper left.

The back of the tablet. Rear Facing camera is on upper left.

You can also use voice commands using the built-in microphone, and there is a video tutorial to show you how to set it up. Also, the speaker volume is pretty good for such a compact device. Of course, you can always plug in some headphones or speakers if you want.

A lot of touchscreens are imprecise and either too sensitive or not sensitive enough—you can spend five minutes just trying to click that one little button onscreen. Not so with this one; it has just the right amount of sensitivity.

The personalization options are really nice. You can change the size and type of the font, you can choose how long it takes for the screensaver to kick on, you can choose whether or not you want the screen to flip automatically when you turn it on its side or upside down—you can adjust pretty much anything, any way you like it.

So hub is browsing the Samsung Apps. And there are over 450,000 to choose from! It looks like we have Sonic CD Lite, about 20 ebooks, an expense planner, a mini piano and who knows what else so far. This is like shopping via remote control for hubs. “Hey, this looks cool.” Tap. “Got it.”  “Hey, this looks cool.” Tap. “Got it.”  And on and on it goes.

And ironically enough, with the  Smart Remote app you can turn your Galaxy Tab 2 into a universal remote control. So you can control all of your stuff – your TV, cable box,  Blu-ray and DVR, whatever – from your SGT2. Hub also informs me that the Smart Remote will learn about what you like and you’ll get personalized recommendations. Find a show, click  “watch”  and never see your husband again  it switches automatically.

Another husband stealer (are we seeing a theme here??) is AllShare, with  IR blaster built right in, which is Samsung’s content-sharing service. With it you can wirelessly stream multimedia content from your tablet to your TV (or another DLNA-enabled device)  Don’t worry if you have to leave the room, because Smart View allows you to wireless stream what’s on your Samsung Smart TV to your Galaxy Tab 2.

Misc observations, 4 days in.

With the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2, you can connect up just about any standard Bluetooth keyboard, which is great b/c I don’t love on-screen typing.  Wi-fi seems to be working great everywhere in our house with no dead spots- even laying in bed with it propped against my pillow – yeah, I could be watching the tv or using my laptop, but the small profile doesn’t light up the room and disturb hub like those do. I’m not sure what will happen when I take it somewhere- we’ll have to wait and see. I’ve read conflicting reports about battery life. We are pretty okay- about 8+ hours of  pretty heavy use takes us down to about 8% to 10%  battery life and then it drops fast. But it charges pretty quickly; we just plug it in at night. Not too bad, IMHO. The memory space is good for most things, but it can fill up pretty fast. An SD card for storage is pretty much mandatory if you’re planning on taking lots of pics or video.

After playing games, reading books, watching movies, browsing the web, trying out apps, and taking pictures of the dogs’ noses and dead spiders, the whole family loves this tablet. So much bang for your buck. There is great value for the money in this – at only $249.00, I don’t see how you can go wrong. Do I have any cons? Just one. Sometimes, depending on how you hold the GST2, you can inadvertently muffle the sound, but I’m not sure where else/how else they could have done the speakers so that’s really just nit-pickiness on my part. But yeah, it bugs me. Oh, and I have noticed that running more than 2 or 3 things (apps) at a time can cause a skip/lag. Irritating, but not a deal breaker. So, I guess that’s 2 things. On a scale from 1 to 10, I give this a 9 – based on the way we are using it, it’s great. We  have come a long way since floppy discs, people.

Black Alexa Duffle Studded Calfskin Leather Bag- The Gotta Have It Handbag

My post title pretty much says it all. One look at this bag and “Gotta Have It!” began flashing through my mind. I am a purse freak. As much as I love shoes, I have an even bigger weakness for handbags, purses, clutches, satchels, hobos, duffels and totes–you name it. Since I’m not rich, I have to keep my desires in check price-wise, and I am always looking for the most bang for my buck. So, for me, finding a site like BagInc.com is like being a kid at Disneyland. It’s where magic happens. Masses of designer-inspired bags at real-people prices! YAY!

When I first visited their site, I saw a tab titled “Top 25 Most Coveted Bags”  and after browsing through the list it’s plain to see why it’s titled that way.Take a look at these two bags off the Top 25 list:

The Essential  Grace Leather Bag in Pink.  Isn’t that lovely??

And this one is too stunning. A statement piece. The Kellia Snakeskin Leather Tote in Blue.

You would think the prices would be out of reach, but the Grace is just $149.00- for an all-leather bag. Awesomeness. The Kellia is even better- $89.00.  You can shop at BagInc with search filters like: must have, color, trends, genuine leather, best sellers and more. They also have a navigation tool so you can “shop under”- for example, “shop under” $10.00 or “shop under” $40.00–which is a neat feature to help keep you on budget. They have a great selection of wallets, scarves, belts and jewelry too.

I chose the BagInc Alexa Duffle Studded Calfskin Leather Bag. It just popped out at me right way. At first I was going to go with the violet one because it’s so pretty, and I thought  it would look nice with my hair (really, because I have a violet wash going on right now) but then after going back and forth, I decided on black. I often buy colored purses, but thought this bag really stands out in black because of the designer shape and stud accents. Shipping was fast, and it arrived well-packaged. It came in a cloth sack with drawstrings, for storage.

When I’m shopping for bags I want soft leather, on-trend styling, and functionality, and this gem has all that in spades. I ADORE THIS BAG!!!!  The pictures really can’t convey how super soft and supple the pebbled leather is. It’s luscious. The type of softness you just keep touching.

It’s beautifully lined and the seams (pet peeve of mine–seams indicate quality, and I want them strong, straight and symmetrical) are wonderful. There are hidden pockets on the outside of the bag, as well as an inner zipped pocket, plus two more open pockets opposite. The zippers are also strong and sturdy. Plenty of room inside. It’s an oversize bag, but not by too much. I put down a pillowcase so you could see the detail better. My duvet cover is lavender/black and the first few pics were hard to see. Yeah, poor hub has to sleep on pink sheets! LOL

With the studded detail on the bottom, it’s just a striking looking bag.The studs aren’t just decorative though, they’ll keep you from scuffing the bottom of your purse. Pretty and smart. A good combination. The Alexa comes with an optional  shoulder strap. While I usually carry my bags hooked over my arm, I want the shoulder strap because after a long day in town, I want to be able to just throw the strap over my shoulder since I have shopping bags or whatnot. This is my new go-to bag; it can be an everyday handbag or a dressed-up bag. It works either way.

Behind my smile I’m thinking “MINE, MINE, MINE!”

If you are shopping for a new handbag (and when aren’t we?) I can highly recommend BagInc.com. The quality and prices are terrific, and the selection is huge!

As a special treat for you, right now you can win the same bag I received for my review! Click through the link to enter and GOOD LUCK!!  *CLICK HERE ALEXA DUFFLE GIVEAWAY CLICK HERE*

SalonHive.com – For The Beauty Junky

junk·ie also junk·y  (jngk)

n. pl. junk·ies Slang   1. One who has an insatiable interest or devotion: a *BEAUTY junkie.

Last year, I was browsing around the beauty blogosphere and I came across a post that left me with my mouth just hanging open.  A beauty blogger was showing her hoard of make up and beauty tools. The  woman had shelves lining an entire wall, each one stuffed with various bins, baskets and other organizers –  all TOTALLY FULL.  Hundreds upon hundreds of lipsticks, liners, mascaras, shadows, powders, foundations and concealers…every type or style of make up known to man. **She easily had two hundred various brushes and on another wall she had half shelves filled with samples and make up that “she didn’t use that often.”  Whoa. She had more make up than some boutiques I’ve been in! And it was all organized so beautifully. Everything in it’s place, like with like, etc. I think I remember her stating that she could find anything, and knew each item she owned.  My “collection”  is beyond puny when compared to hers (as most people’s would be, I imagine) but I do like to keep my things tidy.
You might recall that when I posted about my make up mirror, I told you about the little vanity area I finally made. I redid a cute table and was so happy with my make up spot! Not too long after that the table  top split- so now my printer is on it, since it doesn’t matter for the printer (I’m out of ink anyway, lol) but it was darned inconvenient for doing up your face. That meant my make up went back into the bathroom…and as neat as you try to be, it’s just clutter-y, especially when it sits right in the middle of the sinks.  (Our drawers don’t function –  a new bathroom vanity is next on our “fix our house”  list.) I thinned out my make up, tossing all my out dated or expired items, and everything I hadn’t used recently enough to remember. That helped a lot, but I still wasn’t happy. Then I found a great little desk that I re-did and I  wanted to start using it as my make-up table, but only the bottom two drawers are the right size, way too much bending and stooping, no thanks! So I put all my stuff back in the bathroom!
Enter SalonHive.com. An absolute TREASURE trove for beauty obsessed people. Or anyone who wants a one stop shopping site for all things beauty and skin care. They carry everything! Looking for a new blow dryer, eye shadow or concealer? Check Salon Hive. Need  body lotion, oils or scrubs? Shampoo, conditioner or looking for a new lipstick?  Scissors, combs or salon related needs. Yep. They have it. AND… they have an enormous selection of make up, cosmetic and beauty train cases. You know where I’m going with this now, don’t you? I found their Pink Crocodile Cosmetic Case and knew it was exactly what I needed to organize my make-up. And it’s ♥Pink ♥Crocodile♥ ….I said that right??
I started with this:

You can see how it was taking up all the available counter space in my bathroom. I admit to cleaning up before I took the picture. I threw away all the used Q-tips and make-up sponges, put all the brushes together as they were scattered about and  generally tidied. My mom visits my blog!! LOL. Even tidy and neat though, this was just not a good system. Hub was forever grousing about all my stuff! I, of course, simply point to the toilet seat in the up position…

Take a look at how awesome everything looks now:

I had a blast putting all my stuff in here. Arrange, rearrange, re-rearrange. It’s perfect now. Inside, under the slide out trays, the depth means you can fit in  A LOT of taller items, bulky palettes, kits or what have you.

Not only is all my make up organized and in easy reach, the actual interior is totally adjustable so you can customize each area size wise.  I can access everything at once, including the deeper inside compartments, or just pull out a few trays. Since the top drops down on either side you can put your most used products on just one side if you want. Or like me- use the entire top, LOL. It is amazing how roomy this case is,and I love how solid and well made it is! Thankfully, you can clean it with a hot soapy rag if your stuff spills. Another super great feature is that I can use it two ways when traveling- either carried or…ta da da da…as a rolling carrier. It has  (again very sturdy, well made) a removable set of wheels and adjustable handle. Sigh. I so love this! ♥Pink ♥Crocodile♥ You can see where you can attach the wheels to the back of the case. It’s a one click deal. Easy.
My son and one of my dogs photo-bombed this pic- cropped out my son, left Baby Huey in.
The wheel/handle is very compact- but pulls out really tall for rolling your case.
Basically it’s totally perfect in every way. Color (♥) texture, space, size, durability and I forgot to say, it locks.  This is something that everyone needs! I know it! Christmas is coming…maybe you, your daughter or a college bound someone is on your list and you couldn’t think of anything. Go look at the page after page…after page of make up and cosmetic cases SalonHive has. All sizes, shapes and colors. Of course I searched via the color filter- pink and purple, but there are so many styles! I love having all my make up organized and accessible in such a darling case. If you need a huge one or a small one, soft sided or hard… I bet you can find the one that is perfect for you, too!

Give The Gift Of Healthier Water With Alkamate

Water. It covers three quarters of our planet but we don’t really think about it that much. It’s just there…until you are in a drought or you live somewhere where your tap water tastes like  chlorinated mud.  The water we drink today has been cleaned and has had so many chemicals added to it that the minerals like calcium, potassium and magnesium are often absent. And instead of the good things our bodies need- water often has things like chlorine, rust, manure, nitrates, bacteria, heavy metals and many other unsafe and even toxic substances in it!

Of course, you might be fine because you buy bottled water right? Well, here’s the kicker, depending on the brand- your bottled water might just be from the municipal water supply from some other town, and not really that artesian well water you thought you were buying!  Even supposing you are getting “good” water every day…are you really drinking the best water for your body?

Are you drinking alkaline water?

There is a difference between clean water and clean alkaline water. What is alkaline water? Well, the ideal pH balance of the human body is between 7.3 to 7.4 and the only way to maintain or attain it in the first place is to follow an alkaline diet and by drinking alkaline water. Alkaline water has a pH of approximately 8 (depending on the brand or the equipment used to alkalize the water) and normal water has a neutral pH, which is 7 on the scale. Water can also  be slightly acidic.

There are said to be many benefits to alkaline water, and on the other side of the fence there are those that say it doesn’t matter. After reading as much as I could find, and drinking it myself,  I am one of those that do believe that alkaline water is valid, healthy and that it  DOES convey benefits to your body. So many diseases and health issues are acidic related. Neutralizing acids in the body, through diet and drinking alkaline water may:

1. Boost your immune system.

2. Increase your blood oxygen levels

May help prevent:

3. Arthritis or joint pain (this I know about as I personally experienced a lessening of my oft talked about joint pain)

4. Gout

5. Candida

6. Psoriasis

7. Water retention

8. May help prevent weight gain/accelerate weight loss

9. Help with increased energy

10. Help with improved sleep

11. Keep your body hydrated and give energy, naturally- no stimulants

And there are many, many other issues it addresses.

Great! But you’ve seen the prices on bottled alkaline water. You just looked around to see what filters for your house cost…how can you and your family drink alkaline water and do so affordably?

You can use the portable HL4Y AlkaMate like I am!  Made to be sturdy (you will be surprised at the weight- I expected a typical water filter type construction and was amazed at how solid this was)  the AlkaMate neutralizes the the acid in your water.

Made of 304 food grade stainless steel, and available in a variety off colors, it has two filters made of tourmaline and a mineral called maifanite. It also has 13 minerals and this combination is what will alkalize your water.

I am using my AlkaMate every day and I love it! Like I said, I personally experienced the lessening of the joint pain I deal with- not morphine relief – but enough that I could say “hey- I can tell it’s helping”  I also noticed, as did hubs, that it absolutely helps with fatigue and energy levels, but without that caffeine effect. This might not make sense but I’m going to call it gentle energy. You feel up, but not skittery.

It’s easy to use- basically you pour your water in, shake for 10 or 15 seconds, wait 15 minutes the drink up! It only needs cleaning 1x per month by adding one spoon full of white vinegar and water to your AlkaMate- and then you let it sit for an hour. Wash with hot water and that’s it! They send a really well made carry pouch with the bottle so you can take your healthy water with you everywhere. I think this is an excellent gift idea this holiday season. The colors are very pretty and the size and shape are just right.

If you are interested in a well priced counter top or under sink system you can go to the HL4Y site and browse their other products. Make sure to take a peek at the FIT Detox Foot Bath while you are there! They are on Twitter and Facebook also.
