Fast, Fun and Affordable Bargains!

I think most of us have either bought or sold something via online auction. And I know for myself, I’ve gotten a few great deals.  The biggest auction buzz is always about the penny auction sites. Except the buzz isn’t always positive. But there is a site, an alternative to penny auctions that is risk free and has some built in features that make it a place to check out for serious bargains. DealDash is the longest operating online auction site of it’s kind in the United States.  I was browsing the winners and as of  a few minutes ago, this is Saturday afternoon btw) I saw a $50.00 Amazon card that went for $10.49, a Pink Asus laptop that was won for $31.15 and quite a lot of video games that were won for roughly 90% of retail! Not Bad. I also noticed that it’s free to register on Deal Dash, although you need to buy bids if you want to try and win an auction. Bids sell for .60 cents each but it looks like they have specials often, with bids sold for as low as .15 cents each.  When I was on the site, there was a sale going on for bid packs at 70% off. 200 bids for $36.00 – and you can use PayPal. They have a few incentives to try DealDash risk free If you register and as a first time bidder, you use all your bids in your bid pack, but don’t win…they give you all your bids back to give you a second chance! Cool. Plus, they have a buy it now option, so if you don’t win an auction- you can buy the item at the buy it now price, and you get all your bids back. And finally, DealDash will refund your entire first purchase, no questions asked! A 100% money back guarantee! It looks pretty good. I registered but haven’t purchased a bid pack yet, when I do, and if I win something great- I’ll let you know!

Just Good Stuff 4 You And Your Pets!

Some of you may know that one of our little dogs, Mr. Baby, has epilepsy. His seizures are usually triggered by reactions to chemicals, which means we have to be really careful about what kinds of cleaning products we use for our house, like floor cleaners and laundry soap,  as well as what shampoo we use to bathe him. He could react to anything. And we’ve tried numerous “natural” pet shampoo and soap products, but over and over again we haven’t really been happy with any of them; they tend to leave a sort of oily/greasy residue behind that dulls his fur and makes it limp and scraggly. Greasy fur kind of defeats the purpose of a bath, doesn’t it? I am thanking my lucky stars I came across a line of hand-made soaps, balms, lotions and other pure and nourishing products called Just Good Stuff. I’ll be telling you all about their non-toxic people products in the coming days, but I wanted to start by sharing how much I love their Pet Shampoo Bar. The ingredient list for the Pet Shampoo Bar is wonderful: Coconut Oil, Palm Oil, Rice Bran Oil, Avocado Oil, Jojoba Oil, Cocoa Butter, Mango Butter along with essential oils of Rosemary and Lavender.

There isn’t anything in it to cause a reaction with Mr. Baby, and the combination of  good stuff creates a  beautiful lather and rinses so clean! We didn’t need to use any type of rinse or conditioner for his coat to shine afterwards. Mr. Baby was left smelling so nice, with fluffy clean fur. After a long search for the perfect pet soap, we’ve found it. Whether you are looking for a chemical-free solution for your pets due to health issues, or just because you like the natural alternatives to mass market synthetic soaps and shampoos, you will love this amazing bar.

I’ll tell you a lot more about the women who hand craft Just Good Stuff, their inspiration and their incredible products in a separate post very soon. I just wanted  to share my total delight with the Pet Shampoo Bar because our pets deserve good stuff, too!!

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 – A Review

When I was growing up, if you were getting a tablet, you were getting paper. Computers weren’t in practically every household, and phones had cords.  There were only VHS videos, and if you missed a TV show, tough. The difference between then and now is mind-boggling. We just got our new Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 from You can do more with this sleek little tablet than you could with my first computer – actually, my first two or three computers, lol. Commodore 64 ring a bell?

These days, more people than not are tech-savvy, so some of the things I’ll address here might be pretty basic to you. But let’s assume that we have some novice gadget-users reading this (um, kinda like me) and take it from there. Powered by Android™ 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich, this tablet has a seven-inch display, making it plenty big enough for reading, viewing, or whatever else you might want to do on it—and with a flick of your fingers, you can zoom in or out if you want to adjust the size of what you’re displaying. The images and media are bright and sharp. Ours is the 8 GB model, but it also comes in 4 GB and 16 GB, with additional memory available through the microSD card slot.  Its picture-taking capabilities are better than my old camera. Not brilliant, but very adequate. It has a front-facing camera for video chat and a rear-facing camera for taking regular pictures and video.

Here is a picture of a picture of Lucy taken with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2.

You can also use voice commands using the built-in microphone, and there is a video tutorial to show you how to set it up. Also, the speaker volume is pretty good for such a compact device. Of course, you can always plug in some headphones or speakers if you want.

A lot of touchscreens are imprecise and either too sensitive or not sensitive enough—you can spend five minutes just trying to click that one little button onscreen. Not so with this one; it has just the right amount of sensitivity.

The personalization options are really nice. You can change the size and type of the font, you can choose how long it takes for the screensaver to kick on, you can choose whether or not you want the screen to flip automatically when you turn it on its side or upside down—you can adjust pretty much anything, any way you like it.

So hub is browsing the Samsung Apps. And there are over 450,000 to choose from! It looks like we have Sonic CD Lite, about 20 ebooks, an expense planner, a mini piano and who knows what else so far. This is like shopping via remote control for hubs. “Hey, this looks cool.” Tap. “Got it.”  “Hey, this looks cool.” Tap. “Got it.”  And on and on it goes.

And ironically enough, with the  Smart Remote app you can turn your Galaxy Tab 2 into a universal remote control. So you can control all of your stuff – your TV, cable box,  Blu-ray and DVR, whatever – from your SGT2. Hub also informs me that the Smart Remote will learn about what you like and you’ll get personalized recommendations. Find a show, click  “watch”  and never see your husband again  it switches automatically.

Another husband stealer (are we seeing a theme here??) is AllShare, with  IR blaster built right in, which is Samsung’s content-sharing service. With it you can wirelessly stream multimedia content from your tablet to your TV (or another DLNA-enabled device)  Don’t worry if you have to leave the room, because Smart View allows you to wireless stream what’s on your Samsung Smart TV to your Galaxy Tab 2.

Misc observations, 4 days in.

With the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2, you can connect up just about any standard Bluetooth keyboard, which is great b/c I don’t love on-screen typing.  Wi-fi seems to be working great everywhere in our house with no dead spots- even laying in bed with it propped against my pillow – yeah, I could be watching the tv or using my laptop, but the small profile doesn’t light up the room and disturb hub like those do. I’m not sure what will happen when I take it somewhere- we’ll have to wait and see. I’ve read conflicting reports about battery life. We are pretty okay- about 8+ hours of  pretty heavy use takes us down to about 8% to 10%  battery life and then it drops fast. But it charges pretty quickly; we just plug it in at night. Not too bad, IMHO. The memory space is good for most things, but it can fill up pretty fast. An SD card for storage is pretty much mandatory if you’re planning on taking lots of pics or video.

After playing games, reading books, watching movies, browsing the web, trying out apps, and taking pictures of the dogs’ noses and dead spiders, the whole family loves this tablet. So much bang for your buck. There is great value for the money in this – at only $249.00, I don’t see how you can go wrong. Do I have any cons? Just one. Sometimes, depending on how you hold the GST2, you can inadvertently muffle the sound, but I’m not sure where else/how else they could have done the speakers so that’s really just nit-pickiness on my part. But yeah, it bugs me. Oh, and I have noticed that running more than 2 or 3 things (apps) at a time can cause a skip/lag. Irritating, but not a deal breaker. So, I guess that’s 2 things. On a scale from 1 to 10, I give this a 9 – based on the way we are using it, it’s great. We  have come a long way since floppy discs, people.

Black Alexa Duffle Studded Calfskin Leather Bag- The Gotta Have It Handbag

My post title pretty much says it all. One look at this bag and “Gotta Have It!” began flashing through my mind. I am a purse freak. As much as I love shoes, I have an even bigger weakness for handbags, purses, clutches, satchels, hobos, duffels and totes–you name it. Since I’m not rich, I have to keep my desires in check price-wise, and I am always looking for the most bang for my buck. So, for me, finding a site like is like being a kid at Disneyland. It’s where magic happens. Masses of designer-inspired bags at real-people prices! YAY!

When I first visited their site, I saw a tab titled “Top 25 Most Coveted Bags”  and after browsing through the list it’s plain to see why it’s titled that way.Take a look at these two bags off the Top 25 list:

The Essential  Grace Leather Bag in Pink.  Isn’t that lovely??

And this one is too stunning. A statement piece. The Kellia Snakeskin Leather Tote in Blue.

You would think the prices would be out of reach, but the Grace is just $149.00- for an all-leather bag. Awesomeness. The Kellia is even better- $89.00.  You can shop at BagInc with search filters like: must have, color, trends, genuine leather, best sellers and more. They also have a navigation tool so you can “shop under”- for example, “shop under” $10.00 or “shop under” $40.00–which is a neat feature to help keep you on budget. They have a great selection of wallets, scarves, belts and jewelry too.

I chose the BagInc Alexa Duffle Studded Calfskin Leather Bag. It just popped out at me right way. At first I was going to go with the violet one because it’s so pretty, and I thought  it would look nice with my hair (really, because I have a violet wash going on right now) but then after going back and forth, I decided on black. I often buy colored purses, but thought this bag really stands out in black because of the designer shape and stud accents. Shipping was fast, and it arrived well-packaged. It came in a cloth sack with drawstrings, for storage.

When I’m shopping for bags I want soft leather, on-trend styling, and functionality, and this gem has all that in spades. I ADORE THIS BAG!!!!  The pictures really can’t convey how super soft and supple the pebbled leather is. It’s luscious. The type of softness you just keep touching.

It’s beautifully lined and the seams (pet peeve of mine–seams indicate quality, and I want them strong, straight and symmetrical) are wonderful. There are hidden pockets on the outside of the bag, as well as an inner zipped pocket, plus two more open pockets opposite. The zippers are also strong and sturdy. Plenty of room inside. It’s an oversize bag, but not by too much. I put down a pillowcase so you could see the detail better. My duvet cover is lavender/black and the first few pics were hard to see. Yeah, poor hub has to sleep on pink sheets! LOL

With the studded detail on the bottom, it’s just a striking looking bag.The studs aren’t just decorative though, they’ll keep you from scuffing the bottom of your purse. Pretty and smart. A good combination. The Alexa comes with an optional  shoulder strap. While I usually carry my bags hooked over my arm, I want the shoulder strap because after a long day in town, I want to be able to just throw the strap over my shoulder since I have shopping bags or whatnot. This is my new go-to bag; it can be an everyday handbag or a dressed-up bag. It works either way.

Behind my smile I’m thinking “MINE, MINE, MINE!”

If you are shopping for a new handbag (and when aren’t we?) I can highly recommend The quality and prices are terrific, and the selection is huge!

As a special treat for you, right now you can win the same bag I received for my review! Click through the link to enter and GOOD LUCK!!  *CLICK HERE ALEXA DUFFLE GIVEAWAY CLICK HERE*

We All Need A Little Lift Now And Then

When we think of plastic surgery, most of us think about Michael’s nose, Meg Ryan’s cheeks or Pamela’s bosom. Actually, for centuries there have been people who’ve stretched their earlobes and necks, enlarged their lips with different items like discs or plates, filed their teeth, had tattoos  or scarred  their skin, and bound their feet, among other things. These are all forms of body modification, a type of prelude to modern techniques. Historians tell us  that the first recorded account of “reconstructive plastic surgery” is found in ancient Indian Sanskrit texts that describe procedures to repair noses and ears that were lost (due to battle or punishment for crimes). The  Hindu surgeon Sushruta even described what he called the “attached flap” method in his 600 B.C. text Sushruta Samhita.  The ancient Egyptians and Romans also performed cosmetic surgery; the Romans were able to perform some simple techniques, like repairing damaged ears,  from around the 1st century BC.

While I’ve never had the urge to file my teeth into points or get Triple E implants, I am totally open to plastic or cosmetic surgery. If I hit the lottery, I would definitely  look into scar revision for my awful c-section scars, or some type of laser or other resurfacing technique to lighten and fade my stretch marks. And I love the different lasers available to tighten facial skin.  A subtle lift, nip or tuck can have an incredible impact on someone’s appearance. And for so many people, being insecure about a certain feature or aspect of their face or body can cause them to be much less open and unable to interact with people. Fix the issue and suddenly they bloom and begin to really experience life instead of hiding from it. Of course, like I mentioned, we often picture certain celebrities who went way too far. Joan Van Ark is one celeb who really looked worse after her numerous surgeries- you gotta say when!

Janice Dickinson is another celeb who needed to stop.

I was looking through the WestLake Dermatology site, browsing some of their before-and-after photos of real people who underwent different procedures and who still looked real afterwards, but with amazing transformations. Pretty incredible. Just look at the difference in this woman’s face after a nose job.  She was already lovely, but in the before image her nose sort of takes over her face, while afterwards she looks in balance and you really notice how pretty her other features are.  Obviously, choosing the right doctor and the right practice is about the most important part of the process. You don’t want a doctor who has a fast food menu of services and just repeats the same thing on every person. You want the physicians who really take the time to explain what is realistic.

Reading about the physicians at Westlake Dermatology I was struck by the sheer number of combined years of experience they bring to the table. I actually started to add them up, realized I was doing math and stopped immediately! Suffice it to say it’s a big number. Not only do the various doctors have the time in, they have a broad range of knowledge.  It’s not surprising that Westlake Dermatology is a leader in dermatology and cosmetic procedures in the United States, with services such as juvederm, breastaugmentation, and laser treatments.  In fact, I noticed this statement : “Westlake Dermatology & Cosmetic Surgery has earned a “Gold Seal Approval” outpatient surgery center accreditation by the Joint Commission. Joint Commission accreditation is recognized nationwide as a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to meeting certain performance standards.”  That is exactly the kind of practice I would be looking for if I were getting ready to trust someone with modifying my appearance!

Of course, I had to visit their store,, and take a peek,  pen and paper ready to jot down a want- to- try list. So into the brands they carry! Naturally I found a few products I really, really want. They carry Pyratine-6™, Vivite®, iS Clinical (which I love!) and several other lines that I have either sampled or want to! Having the iderma store means that taking care of your skin post-procedure is easy. And you know how I feel about taking care of your skin. The right products could even delay your decision to have surgery if you are able to see a real difference in your skin texture, laxity or discoloration.

The decision to set up a consultation for laser treatments or surgery is pretty personal. We all need a little lift now and then, and I guess the key is to make sure that the one who does the lifting knows his onions! – For The Beauty Junky

junk·ie also junk·y  (jngk)

n. pl. junk·ies Slang   1. One who has an insatiable interest or devotion: a *BEAUTY junkie.

Last year, I was browsing around the beauty blogosphere and I came across a post that left me with my mouth just hanging open.  A beauty blogger was showing her hoard of make up and beauty tools. The  woman had shelves lining an entire wall, each one stuffed with various bins, baskets and other organizers –  all TOTALLY FULL.  Hundreds upon hundreds of lipsticks, liners, mascaras, shadows, powders, foundations and concealers…every type or style of make up known to man. **She easily had two hundred various brushes and on another wall she had half shelves filled with samples and make up that “she didn’t use that often.”  Whoa. She had more make up than some boutiques I’ve been in! And it was all organized so beautifully. Everything in it’s place, like with like, etc. I think I remember her stating that she could find anything, and knew each item she owned.  My “collection”  is beyond puny when compared to hers (as most people’s would be, I imagine) but I do like to keep my things tidy.
You might recall that when I posted about my make up mirror, I told you about the little vanity area I finally made. I redid a cute table and was so happy with my make up spot! Not too long after that the table  top split- so now my printer is on it, since it doesn’t matter for the printer (I’m out of ink anyway, lol) but it was darned inconvenient for doing up your face. That meant my make up went back into the bathroom…and as neat as you try to be, it’s just clutter-y, especially when it sits right in the middle of the sinks.  (Our drawers don’t function –  a new bathroom vanity is next on our “fix our house”  list.) I thinned out my make up, tossing all my out dated or expired items, and everything I hadn’t used recently enough to remember. That helped a lot, but I still wasn’t happy. Then I found a great little desk that I re-did and I  wanted to start using it as my make-up table, but only the bottom two drawers are the right size, way too much bending and stooping, no thanks! So I put all my stuff back in the bathroom!
Enter An absolute TREASURE trove for beauty obsessed people. Or anyone who wants a one stop shopping site for all things beauty and skin care. They carry everything! Looking for a new blow dryer, eye shadow or concealer? Check Salon Hive. Need  body lotion, oils or scrubs? Shampoo, conditioner or looking for a new lipstick?  Scissors, combs or salon related needs. Yep. They have it. AND… they have an enormous selection of make up, cosmetic and beauty train cases. You know where I’m going with this now, don’t you? I found their Pink Crocodile Cosmetic Case and knew it was exactly what I needed to organize my make-up. And it’s ♥Pink ♥Crocodile♥ ….I said that right??
I started with this:

You can see how it was taking up all the available counter space in my bathroom. I admit to cleaning up before I took the picture. I threw away all the used Q-tips and make-up sponges, put all the brushes together as they were scattered about and  generally tidied. My mom visits my blog!! LOL. Even tidy and neat though, this was just not a good system. Hub was forever grousing about all my stuff! I, of course, simply point to the toilet seat in the up position…

Take a look at how awesome everything looks now:

I had a blast putting all my stuff in here. Arrange, rearrange, re-rearrange. It’s perfect now. Inside, under the slide out trays, the depth means you can fit in  A LOT of taller items, bulky palettes, kits or what have you.

Not only is all my make up organized and in easy reach, the actual interior is totally adjustable so you can customize each area size wise.  I can access everything at once, including the deeper inside compartments, or just pull out a few trays. Since the top drops down on either side you can put your most used products on just one side if you want. Or like me- use the entire top, LOL. It is amazing how roomy this case is,and I love how solid and well made it is! Thankfully, you can clean it with a hot soapy rag if your stuff spills. Another super great feature is that I can use it two ways when traveling- either carried or…ta da da da…as a rolling carrier. It has  (again very sturdy, well made) a removable set of wheels and adjustable handle. Sigh. I so love this! ♥Pink ♥Crocodile♥ You can see where you can attach the wheels to the back of the case. It’s a one click deal. Easy.
My son and one of my dogs photo-bombed this pic- cropped out my son, left Baby Huey in.
The wheel/handle is very compact- but pulls out really tall for rolling your case.
Basically it’s totally perfect in every way. Color (♥) texture, space, size, durability and I forgot to say, it locks.  This is something that everyone needs! I know it! Christmas is coming…maybe you, your daughter or a college bound someone is on your list and you couldn’t think of anything. Go look at the page after page…after page of make up and cosmetic cases SalonHive has. All sizes, shapes and colors. Of course I searched via the color filter- pink and purple, but there are so many styles! I love having all my make up organized and accessible in such a darling case. If you need a huge one or a small one, soft sided or hard… I bet you can find the one that is perfect for you, too!
**If any of you remember or know the blog, blogger or post- send me the link. I don’t remember who it was, but I’d like to read it again. Thanks.

Give The Gift Of Healthier Water With Alkamate

Water. It covers three quarters of our planet but we don’t really think about it that much. It’s just there…until you are in a drought or you live somewhere where your tap water tastes like  chlorinated mud.  The water we drink today has been cleaned and has had so many chemicals added to it that the minerals like calcium, potassium and magnesium are often absent. And instead of the good things our bodies need- water often has things like chlorine, rust, manure, nitrates, bacteria, heavy metals and many other unsafe and even toxic substances in it!

Of course, you might be fine because you buy bottled water right? Well, here’s the kicker, depending on the brand- your bottled water might just be from the municipal water supply from some other town, and not really that artesian well water you thought you were buying!  Even supposing you are getting “good” water every day…are you really drinking the best water for your body?

Are you drinking alkaline water?

There is a difference between clean water and clean alkaline water. What is alkaline water? Well, the ideal pH balance of the human body is between 7.3 to 7.4 and the only way to maintain or attain it in the first place is to follow an alkaline diet and by drinking alkaline water. Alkaline water has a pH of approximately 8 (depending on the brand or the equipment used to alkalize the water) and normal water has a neutral pH, which is 7 on the scale. Water can also  be slightly acidic.

There are said to be many benefits to alkaline water, and on the other side of the fence there are those that say it doesn’t matter. After reading as much as I could find, and drinking it myself,  I am one of those that do believe that alkaline water is valid, healthy and that it  DOES convey benefits to your body. So many diseases and health issues are acidic related. Neutralizing acids in the body, through diet and drinking alkaline water may:

1. Boost your immune system.

2. Increase your blood oxygen levels

May help prevent:

3. Arthritis or joint pain (this I know about as I personally experienced a lessening of my oft talked about joint pain)

4. Gout

5. Candida

6. Psoriasis

7. Water retention

8. May help prevent weight gain/accelerate weight loss

9. Help with increased energy

10. Help with improved sleep

11. Keep your body hydrated and give energy, naturally- no stimulants

And there are many, many other issues it addresses.

Great! But you’ve seen the prices on bottled alkaline water. You just looked around to see what filters for your house cost…how can you and your family drink alkaline water and do so affordably?

You can use the portable HL4Y AlkaMate like I am!  Made to be sturdy (you will be surprised at the weight- I expected a typical water filter type construction and was amazed at how solid this was)  the AlkaMate neutralizes the the acid in your water.

Made of 304 food grade stainless steel, and available in a variety off colors, it has two filters made of tourmaline and a mineral called maifanite. It also has 13 minerals and this combination is what will alkalize your water.

I am using my AlkaMate every day and I love it! Like I said, I personally experienced the lessening of the joint pain I deal with- not morphine relief – but enough that I could say “hey- I can tell it’s helping”  I also noticed, as did hubs, that it absolutely helps with fatigue and energy levels, but without that caffeine effect. This might not make sense but I’m going to call it gentle energy. You feel up, but not skittery.

It’s easy to use- basically you pour your water in, shake for 10 or 15 seconds, wait 15 minutes the drink up! It only needs cleaning 1x per month by adding one spoon full of white vinegar and water to your AlkaMate- and then you let it sit for an hour. Wash with hot water and that’s it! They send a really well made carry pouch with the bottle so you can take your healthy water with you everywhere. I think this is an excellent gift idea this holiday season. The colors are very pretty and the size and shape are just right.

If you are interested in a well priced counter top or under sink system you can go to the HL4Y site and browse their other products. Make sure to take a peek at the FIT Detox Foot Bath while you are there! They are on Twitter and Facebook also.

My Eyelashes Look Incredible! Blinc Mascara Is Fantastic!

I complain about my pitiful eyelashes all the time. To myself, when I’m looking in the mirror and getting irritated because  they just look sad, even after 16 coats of mascara. Okay, they aren’t that bad, objectively speaking, but until I had my second baby I had lush, super thick, dark eyelashes. People actually thought I ran around with fakes on. I’d be at the grocery store and women would tell me how awesome my eyelashes were, then kinda look around like we were spies, lean in and say, “You can tell me, are they real or falsies?” Flattered much? That does NOT happen anymore!

I was so excited to try blinc Mascara Amplified! You know what I mean, that happy little hum you do when you are getting ready to try a new lipstick, or eye-shadow or whatever.  I fell in love from the get-go.  I love how I can really build up the volume by quickly applying a second, or even a third coat. I also found out I can tap the brush on the tips of my lashes and add extra length. If you wait till your lashes dry though, you are out of luck. That is the only drawback actually, you can’t use a lash comb to separate your lashes after they dry- you need to practice a little to get them right, because that’s the way they stay.  Once they’re set, they’re set- which is also good, though. You can go all day and your lashes look as good as first thing after doing your make-up!

The blinc Mascara Amplified is a new version of their famous tube mascara. Tube mascara has so many advantages over regular mascara.

1. Lasts all day with no need to re-apply. Since you are actually encasing your lashes in little tubes, it stays put until you remove it!

2. It doesn’t clump, run, smudge or flake off.

3. You can build up your lashes (before t dries) by applying more and tapping the ends of your eyelashes for even more length.

4. It sets your lashes. If you use an eyelash curler, then use blinc’s Mascara Amplified (or their original) and the tubes that form will support the curl!

5. Non-irritating for wearers of contact lenses.

6. Gluten-free.

7. No residue left over.

8. Removal is super easy. You just need water! No special eye makeup remover needed! A little warm water and very gentle pressure and the tubes “slide” off! And yet it’s still waterproof! Magic.

9. It’s really fun to remove – the tubes come off like little hairy strings.

Seriously, it looks like little bugs’ legs and I have to admit I quickly checked in the mirror the first time I washed it off, to make sure I still had eyelashes!

!!!! Those are the little tubes that came off when my daughter washed her blinc Mascara Amplified off, just using warm water.

Overall, I love it! The inability to comb through after your lashes are set is not huge once you get the hang of working the brush – so I am thrilled with my bigger, longer, lusher looking eyelashes.  blinc has some great videos on their site, that “walk” you through application, if you want to take a peek.

Have you tried tube mascara? What do you think?

Provella For Women

Quite a while back my Dr. suggested that adding a probiotic supplement to my daily routine would be a good idea.
I was told about how probiotics work. Our digestive system has “good” bacteria and “bad” bacteria. Keeping the correct balance between the “good”  and the “bad” bacteria is vital. Things like medications, your diet, disease processes, stress and your environment can upset that balance. Being “out of balance” can lead to vaginal health issues, digestion issues, even impairing the ability of your body to absorb good nutrients.  I found out that taking a probitic daily, could even help support a healthier immune system.
I am a big believer in natural ways to support my body health wise and was very interested the benefits of good bacteria.
I recently had a chance to try the Provella Probiotic Dietary Supplement.  Provella has been specially designed for women and has a Patented Controlled-Release Technology. It helps *restore and  maintain balance of good bacteria to support digestive & vaginal health.  It’s Gluten Free and suitable for Vegetarians. That is important to so many people nowadays.  Provella contains a proprietary blend of 6 bacteria strains:
Bifidobacterium bifidum
Lactobacillus reuteri
Lactobacillus fermentum
Lactobacillus rhamnosus
Lactobacillus acidophilus
Lactobacillus plantarum
It couldn’t be easier to take Provella. It’s a once daily supplement, with or without food. No prescription required!  Because it is time released you don’t want to crush or split it.
My main goal in trying a probiotic was to help me with digestion issues. I read that gas or bloating could be a side effect but that if so it would diminish. After a little more than two weeks, I’m happy to report that I had no problems, and that I have just begun to notice that the digestion issues that prompted that original talk with my Dr. have decreased quite a lot! In fact, we just spent the weekend at a theme park, and even though I indulged in some fatty foods (come on, we were at a theme park! I had to!) the stomach cramps I had come to dread  were basically nonexistent. As far as I am concerned, that’s success.  My only negative comment at all is the price.  I wish it were a few dollars cheaper for a month’s supply, but they do have a $6.00 off coupon right now! That said, I think the benefits of being more regular and less prone to vaginal infections is worth the price, I’m just a cheapskate, lol.  You can buy Provella at They have a video Q & A to help anwer your questions. You can watch it right here.

*I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Provella. I received product samples to facilitate my review and a promotional item to thank me for participating. NewBeauty TestTube – The Ultimate Product Sampling Program- Summer 2012

After a long weekend, I was feeling kind of down, tired and, well, cranky. I needed a perk me up and…. abracadabra!  The hot pink Summer 2012 edition of the NewBeauty TestTube arrived. Like a little Christmas party in the summer, with me as the guest of honor. Have you heard of the NewBeauty TestTube? It’s a wonderful sampling program that allows you to try deluxe samples and even full size beauty and skin care products, so you can decide if you like something, before you splash out the cash. It’s so much fun to get your testtube full of goodies. Not knowing what’s inside is a little beauty buzz rush…it could be anything!  And, obviously choosing to package it in the tube, in hot pink?? Instant happy. BTW: My empty tube is working great as a place to store my panty hose :-p Looks cute in the closet, too. Anyway…..

I admit I had already peeked before I had my daughter snap this pic. But I only saw the top item or two.

SOO much fun to see what beauty treats were mine to try!

My three favorites.

Mally High Shine Liquid Lipstick. Full size.  $20.00  A super shiny, full coverage 4 in 1 formula. Works as lip primer, lip gloss, lipstick and lip liner. I LOVE this. I got the “Just Heaven” color and it’s perfect.

Me wearing the Mally Liquid Lipstick, in Just Heaven. Love the shine, the color is soft and pretty.

it’s a 10. Miracle Leave-in.  4 oz.  I am hooked on this leave in. I’m glad I keep my Coz license current because I will be buying this (at cost, lol) again and again.

Lumene. Time Freeze Firming night cream. I recently used this for the first time so was happy to get a nice sized sample. A really rich, creamy night treatment. Doesn’t irritate or make me wake up with that “heavy skin” feeling.

Me with my three favorites.

Also included:

dr. Brandt microdermabrasion body exfoliating cream. Sample tube. This is a great body exfoliator. The ONLY reason I’m not adding this as a favorite is because I don’t love the scent. It works wonderfully, has a great texture and a perfect “grit” … it’s just that since I used it in a hot, steamy shower, I wanted more of a fragrance. I like my showers to be relaxing and filled with spa inspired scents. My skin did glow and was as soft as a baby bottom so even with the scent not being my preference, I’d buy it.

Jane Iredale Tantasia. Sample tube. A self tanner with color guide. I just tried this last night. A really good tanner that gives a true looking tan. Since it was a sample size I just tried it on the side of my hip. The color today is very pretty. I’d buy it. I probably wouldn’t have, though without trying it first.

Ahava Time To Hydrate Essential Day Moisturizer. Sample tube. I’m impressed with this. Doesn’t have an overly pretty scent, but  it soothed my itchy skin like a dream! I had several little bug bites on my calves and ankles from being outside on the trails. I know better than to go traipsing around out here in shorts and flip flops but I did and paid for it. I had put this on my counter intending to toss it in my purse, so when I came in it was the first lotion handy. Seriously within a few seconds of slathering my legs and ankles…the itch was totally gone. It’s not advertised for itch relief, but I am buying this. Great product.

Neutrogena Brightening Eye Perfector. Full Size $13.99  A nice concealer with SPF 25. Went on smooth, a little creamy, easy to blend. I’d buy it.

Hydroxatone InstantEffect. 15 packets. An instant tightening serum. The one product I haven’t yet tested, but has actually been on my list of  “To Try” items for a while.

Olay Pro-X Clear Complexion Renewing Lotion. Sample tube. I gave this a try and it perfectly highlights how awesome the NewBeauty TestTube program is. Because I don’t like this product and I’m so glad I got to try it first. My skin felt “draggy” right away after I used it. Of course I gave it another go, but second and third tries were flops for me too. It has gotten some great reviews, but just not something I’d buy again.

Neutrogena  Rapid Wrinkle Repair Serum. Full Size. $19.99-$22.99  Another product I wanted to try but hadn’t yet bought. I like this a lot. Not greasy, absorbs quickly and gives an instant smooth feel to your skin. I’ll probably buy this again.

Also in the tube:

A copy of NewBeauty magazine, special issue. SO much in this magazine. Beauty and skin care addicts dream. I usually skim, I am going page by page!

3 gift cards  for SpaLook. Good for anywhere from $10.00 to $50.00 off. Minimum purchase required.

A glossy, large sized brochure highlighting the products in the testtube.

All in all, a great time was had by all (me) at my NewBeauty party. The full size products are great to get and the samples are the nice deluxe size, which means you really get to try the product, not just tear open a foil packet and hope a drop of something squeezes out.

Worth it for $29.95. The total ARV of this tube easily surpasses the cost. Getting the magazine is a real bonus, as it is totally full of beauty products, tips and stuff that is actually interesting.  You can also read what other subscribers thought about the products, here.
