Penny Pincher Gazette – Save Time and Money

I’ve spoken in the past about how much money can be saved online or in store with the right coupons, but like many of you, I don’t always take advantage of the savings. Why? Well, it comes down to time and hassle factor. If I’m in a hurry, I just don’t take the time to search out a coupon for what I’m looking for. Then I get home and kick myself because I could have kept more of my money if I would have just looked around first. But sometimes I just can’t spend time going from site to site.  Luckily I just found Penny Pincher Gazette. A coupon aggregate site where I can search for high value coupons and print them on the spot. Plus, I can even download some coupons to my store loyalty cards! With six distribution partners, Coupons.com, Coupon Network, SmartSource, RedPlum, SavingStar and Cellfire you are bound to find what you need! Founded in 2006, they have over a million members now! Including me!

Nowadays there are more families than ever turning to coupons to stay on track budget wise and finding an easy streamlined place to get all your discount coupons (for free, no membership fees, btw!) is almost a must! Whether you bank your savings for a family trip, spend it on a little splurge or even use it to pay down debt- $10,$20 or $30 a month in savings can really add up!

For instance, I decided to see what I could have used on our last shopping trip…and I’m a little ticked off that didn’t take advantage!

I could have saved:

$1.00 on Garnier Shampoo

$1.00 on Curel

$4.00 on my NightGaurd

$3.00 on Covergirl

$ 9.00! And that’s just on the makeup and personal items I bought! I didn’t even go through the food I purchased.

They have made it easy since I can search by category, like “breakfast”  or “household” as well as by brand name or even by store.

I’m making a very late resolution for 2013.  I vow not to go shopping- online or to town without first checking if there is a coupon for anything on my list!!

What about you? Do you check for coupons before you shop? Why or why not?

Shop Online Safely with V.me

It seems like every time you turn around there is something in the news about a victim of identity theft.  The long term ramifications are awful. I read the other day about how over a hundred counterfeit websites were shut down. Yay (!) that they were caught, but imagine all the people that gave their credit card info to those crooks  Hell Boybefore the sites were shut down. With so many people shopping online nowadays and so much potential for cruddy, rotten, awful  people (I could go on, but you get my drift) to steal your account numbers, keeping your payment info secure is an absolute priority.

A couple of interesting facts about Identity Theft.

1.  According to a study released by Javelin Strategy & Research,   identity fraud increased by 13 percent in 2011.  More than 11.6 million adults became a victim of identity fraud in the United States.

2. The same survey found that despite all the warnings that social networks are a great resource for fraudsters, crooks and bad guys, consumers are still sharing a lot of personal information, namely the info that is commonly used to authenticate a consumer’s identity.  68 percent of people with public social media profiles shared their birthday information (with 45 percent sharing month, date and year)-Oops. Guilty. 63 percent shared their high school name; 18 percent shared their phone number; and 12 percent shared their pet’s name (Oops, again!) and these all are prime examples of personal information a company would use to verify your identity via security questions for example, or common passwords.

3. One possible reason for  the fraud increase was the 67 percent increase in the number of Americans affected by data breaches compared to 2010. Javelin Strategy & Research found victims of data breaches are 9.5 times more likely to be a victim of identity fraud, compared to those that weren’t compromised.

**On a side note- I almost forgot to white out my info on one of  screenshots, below!!  I’m telling you all about how to keep yourself safe online and I almost posted my personal info right here. Terribly glad my son noticed. I have Sometimer’s you know. Sometimes I’m sharp…sometimes I’m scattered.

I had a few more little items left to purchase to finish up my Christmas shopping (I’m done now, btw *takes bow*  thank you) and I used V.me by Visa to keep my information safe. If you haven’t heard of V.me, here is a quick introduction.

Basically V.me by Visa is an easy, safe payment system that hides your important account information behind multiple layers of security. 1. Speed through checkout by entering your email address and password.

2. Pay securely with any Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover card.

3. They store your payment information with multiple layers of security.

My reasons:

1. No hassle.

2. Fast signup.

3. Onsite tools like budget and tracking.

4. Offers and savings emails relevant to my activity.

See how easy check out is?

After signing in, I am directed to a confirmation page and I’m done!!

I feel really good using V.me. I like knowing I don’t need to be afraid to enter my account info and I really like how streamlined the process of online shopping is… and you guys all know how much I love to shop online. No crowds, I can easily compare prices and deals, I save gas money, and I can wear my fuzzy slippers and comfy pj pants and even lay in bed if I want.

Well, I guess I could wear slippers and jammies and go out and shop, but I’d hate to see myself on People of Walmart…

Furthermore, with both kids and hub also using the internet to buy stuff they want or need, this makes it easier for me to track purchases and spending, too. Geez, I sound self- centered huh? I’m all “easier for me,” “safer for me,” “it’s all about me, me, me.” But it is called V.me, after all!

Do you do a lot of shopping online? Do you feel nervous about using your credit cards? If you answered yes, you can go sign up for V.me by Visa here, for free, and give it a try!

Fast, Fun and Affordable Bargains!

I think most of us have either bought or sold something via online auction. And I know for myself, I’ve gotten a few great deals.  The biggest auction buzz is always about the penny auction sites. Except the buzz isn’t always positive. But there is a site, an alternative to penny auctions that is risk free and has some built in features that make it a place to check out for serious bargains. DealDash is the longest operating online auction site of it’s kind in the United States.  I was browsing the winners and as of  a few minutes ago, this is Saturday afternoon btw) I saw a $50.00 Amazon card that went for $10.49, a Pink Asus laptop that was won for $31.15 and quite a lot of video games that were won for roughly 90% of retail! Not Bad. I also noticed that it’s free to register on Deal Dash, although you need to buy bids if you want to try and win an auction. Bids sell for .60 cents each but it looks like they have specials often, with bids sold for as low as .15 cents each.  When I was on the site, there was a sale going on for bid packs at 70% off. 200 bids for $36.00 – and you can use PayPal. They have a few incentives to try DealDash risk free If you register and as a first time bidder, you use all your bids in your bid pack, but don’t win…they give you all your bids back to give you a second chance! Cool. Plus, they have a buy it now option, so if you don’t win an auction- you can buy the item at the buy it now price, and you get all your bids back. And finally, DealDash will refund your entire first purchase, no questions asked! A 100% money back guarantee! It looks pretty good. I registered but haven’t purchased a bid pack yet, when I do, and if I win something great- I’ll let you know!

Online Casinos- Can you play without cash?

Usually, the first thing that comes to mind when you think “casino” is Las Vegas-type places–you know, the flashing neon lights, the hustle and bustle, places where it seems like it’s never nighttime. I’ve only been to a casino once or twice, and I never actually won anything, but they were interesting experiences anyway. The atmosphere was cheerful and bouncy, and it was fun throwing a few dollars into various games and crossing my fingers for a win. Sort of like a sped-up version of playing the lottery, except with better odds.

Since online casinos have become popular, though, you don’t need to visit a physical location to play. You can play anytime, anywhere. To me, being the big homebody that I am, I kinda think this sounds much nicer than having to visit a casino to dabble in the various games they offer.

So, it was interesting for me to hear about casinobonus2.com, a site where you can find a collection of no deposit bonus codes, which are basically coupons that allow you to play in online casinos without having to deposit any cash. Hmm. A no deposit bonus is good for anywhere from $5 to $500 dollars, and if you subsequently meet the wagering requirements, you can cash out for actual money. I’m not much of a gambler, but this sounds like a good deal to me!

My New Business Cards Came!

I recently had the chance to work with EliteFlyers.com to get my new business cards…and since they have arrived, I wanted to share how wonderfully they turned out! Look:

I Know the picture quality is awful, but it’s good enough to for you to get the general idea, right?  In person they are matched to my blog button colors, feel super soft because they are silk laminated and have spot UV detail, front and back, which totally doesn’t show in the pic.  Spot UV is a high gloss highlight that pops details in relief on the cards. The order process went really well. I made changes like 20 times, but the guys were great! Amazing customer service. If you are looking to get some new business cards…or anything from custom apparel to postcards to pens, from balloons to flash drives, check out EliteFlyers.com!
